Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress has initiated a nationwide organizational strengthening and membership campaign, formally advancing preparations for its 15th General Convention.

As per the party’s schedule, representatives have been deployed to all 77 districts from Chaitra 21 to begin groundwork for the convention. Following a delegate orientation program held at the party’s central office in Sanepa, General Secretary Pradeep Poudel announced that this year’s preparations have been branded as the “Jara Campaign.”

Under this initiative, representatives will work throughout the month of Baisakh to compile detailed reports on membership distribution, renewal, and the overall organizational status in their respective districts.

According to Poudel, the party has adopted a technology-friendly approach this time by introducing a “Congress ID” for all members. Existing active members are required to update their membership at the ward or local level within Baisakh; otherwise, their membership will not be recognized. Those without the ID will not be eligible to participate in any process related to the 15th General Convention. New members, meanwhile, will be able to obtain membership through digital systems.

Through the “Jara Campaign,” the party has outlined four main objectives: preparing for the General Convention, strengthening organizational structure, reviewing the results of the last election, and reconnecting the party with social activities.

As part of the campaign, the party will also engage directly with citizens to understand the reasons behind the decline in its support base. The party president is expected to hold review interactions with national-level intellectuals and district representatives at the local level.

Representatives have been mobilized with clear guidelines and procedures to assess the condition of party-affiliated organizations and to actively participate in social initiatives based on local needs.
